Sticking to a self-improvement plan

September is self-improvement month.

The change in the seasons from summer to fall is a great time to consider making a change in your own life. Here are a few ideas to get you thinking about self-improvement and working toward new goals:

  • Set an achievable goal: Think of small changes you could make in your life that would help you feel better, such as taking walks more frequently or drinking more water.
  • Use the buddy system: Ask someone in your life to help you be accountable to the change you're trying to make. Having someone who can remind you of your goal and provide positive motivation can make a big difference.
  • Track your progress: Use an app on your phone, write in a journal or find another way to track your progress over time. Doing so is an easy way to stay accountable to your plan.
  • Be patient with yourself: Don't get discouraged if you don't notice the effects of your goal right away. Schedule a check in with yourself after several months to see how you're feeling and doing.
